Mauritius is implementing the ‘Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) for Low Carbon Island Development Strategy for Mauritius’ project (2017 – 2021), funded by Global Environment Facility to the tune of USD 1.6 million. The objective of the project is to ensure a low carbon path for Mauritius, by establishing the national capacity for formulating and prioritising mitigation actions in line with the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and further develop the local capability to design and implement mitigation actions in the energy sector. The project would culminate in the formulation of a National Climate Change Mitigation Strategy and Action Plan.
